Suitcases

Adam used to get nervous when we pulled out the suitcases because he knew it meant someone was leaving (even when we all were going together). After many trips, including eight airplane flights, his perspective has changed a bit. The suitcases have become one of his favorite toys. He often requests to get them out just to play with them and roll them around the house. He loves to pull up the handle ("tall, tall, tall"), tell us goodbye, and then roll them out of the room. So much for a nervous little traveler.

FHE Lesson

It rained all day today. Instead of going outside for our Family Home Evening lesson on nature, we talked about what a great blessing it is to have rain and water. We were sure Adam would be very excited for the activity since he LOVES bath time. Instead, Adam was very hesitant to even get his hands wet! Every time he got water on his fingers he would say, "Uh, Oh" and wipe them off on the towel. This cautious behavior did make clean up very easy, however. We didn't get ANY water on the carpet!

Fun with Dad

Paul is always coming up with new activities for Adam. His latest includes this racecar ramp he and Adam built out of various household items (two suitcases, step stool, school folder, shoe boxes, scripture case, and a blanket). Vroom, vroom!

Later, Paul turned our couch into a trampoline, with the cushions providing a soft landing. Geronimo!

Volo Auto Museum

We went to the Volo Auto Museum today in Volo, Illinois. The first exhibit has movie-famous cars. There were even several we could sit in. Adam loved this. Unfortunately, this made it difficult to explain to Adam why the cars in the later exhibits couldn't even be touched!

Despite Adam's disappointment at not being able to sit in the other cars, he did manage to find a favorite. He became very excited when he saw this 1970 Buick GSX. The hook was, of course, the yellow color--one of Adam's favorites. He couldn't stop saying yellow. Mommy and Daddy were not as excited when they learned Adam had selected the second most expensive car in the museum ($198,998). We hope this isn't evidence of things to come.

Easter

Adam was very excited to wake up and discover his Easter basket and the candy that the Easter Bunny left for him. It didn’t take long before Adam spotted one of the hidden Easter eggs. He had fun hunting for the others. In fact, he enjoyed finding the eggs so much that he didn’t even take time to eat the M&M candies inside each one.

For Family Home Evening we had another egg hunt. Once again Adam loved finding these paper eggs, but it was a bit harder for him to listen to all the stories told by the pictures and scriptures that were on the eggs. He always recognizes Jesus, however, and says his name very well.

For our FHE activity, we dyed eggs. Adam loved dropping the eggs into the dyes. We also used crayons and stickers to decorate them, but Adam preferred dunking them to everything else.

Adam's Baby

Recently, Adam has been playing more and more with his "bebe." He often asks to have her wrapped in a blanket so he can rock her in the rocking chair. Today, he also changed her diaper, brushed her teeth, gave her a drink, and put her in his room for a nap. And when he's eating he insists that the baby sit in a chair or on the table nearby so he can make sure she's okay. Not to worry, Daddy. Adam still loves to play with cars, throw balls, and run outside. He's just a well-rounded guy! :)

What?!

This morning we opened the curtains to this . . . a blizzard!

Of course, the Easter bunnies and pastel eggs hanging in our window look a bit out of place compared to our snow covered yard, but at least the inside of our apartment feels like Spring. We are definitely looking forward to the time when the weather will match our decorations!
By the time this storm was finished, we had 13 new inches of snow!

The Match!

Today was Match Day and the news we've been waiting for!

This is us celebrating with friends afterward at Stonefire Pizza (great place for kids). Adam celebrated by going down the slide for the 100th time.

OMAHA, NEBRASKA!!!

Buttons!

Adam loves to push buttons and nowhere more than the computer. For a while Daddy held Adam on his lap so Adam could type. Then Daddy created a new use for Adam's highchair. Adam was excited to have his own little work station set up for him at the computer. It's just right for reaching ALL the buttons!

Anne's Wedding

We flew to Utah yesterday for Anne and Benji's wedding (Anne is Paul's sister). It was a whirlwind trip, but we are happy we could be there. Congratulations, Anne and Benji!!

Cool Shades

Often when we're driving in the car the sun shines through the front window into Adam's eyes. Mommy decided to see if Adam would tolerate sunglasses. She bought these sleek Mater shades for him. He loves them! Best of all they keep the sun from bothering his eyes. They also keep him looking cool!

New Microwave

As you know, one of Adam's first words was "beeeeeep!" He has always loved the microwave. The other day Mommy found a little microwave just Adam's size. It even came with lots of pretend food. Adam was thrilled! This morning when he woke up his first word was "mi may" (microwave), and as soon as he was out of his crib he ran to the microwave and started cooking turkey for breakfast. :)

New Hats

Adam found Mommy's shower caps today. Mommy was demonstrating how to use them when Daddy snuck up and snapped a quick photo!

Children's Museum

Today we went to the Children's Museum for the first time. One of the first things we came to in the museum was a kid-size delivery truck. Adam loves cars and he loved even more that he could get in the driver’s seat and turn the wheel. Throughout the day he frequently left other areas of the museum to run back and drive the truck. The delivery truck is a small part of a large, hands-on grocery store exhibit. Adam enjoyed picking apples from an apple tree, selecting all sorts of fruits and vegetables from the produce section, and emptying the shelves of canned goods and frozen foods into his shopping basket faster than Paul could restock them.

Other exhibits we did included delivering mail, changing a tire, going through the bank's drive-through, going down slides, and climbing through tunnels. Paul and I had almost as much fun watching Adam as Adam had playing with the exhibits. It was nice to take a break and just have fun together.
