2 Airplanes!

Adam anxiously awaited our trip to Utah. The fact that we would be flying on an airplane added to his excitement. At the airport, he loved riding on the escalators and looking out the windows at the many planes. While waiting to board our plane, Adam looked around at all of the other people. With a very concerned and puzzled expression, he asked, "Mommy, are ALL of these people going to visit Grammy and Granddad?" The plane ride itself was pretty uneventful. After about 30 minutes, Adam did ask if we could get off. But other than that instance, he was content to read his books and play with his toys. When we boarded our second plane, Adam was quite surprised. He was shocked that we would actually be flying on 2 airplanes for this trip! Now when people ask Adam if he flew in an airplane, he is quick to correct them. He holds up two fingers and proudly explains that he flew on 2 airplanes.

Mr. Helpful

Today was laundry day. Kim went upstairs to sort clothes for another load of wash. This is what she found when she came back to the laundry room. When Adam heard the dryer beep, he went downstairs, got the basket, opened the dryer door, and began putting the towels in the basket so they could be folded. When Adam finished unloading the dryer, he happily exclaimed that he was "Mr. Helpful!"

Children's Museum

We visited the Children's Museum today. Adam was delighted to see the race cars on display in the new exhibit. When I asked him to stand by the car for a picture, he walked up to the car, put his hand on the hood, and leaned back as if he'd been posing by cars for years. Adam's greatest achievement of the day was reaching the very top of the climbing tower. He was very pleased with his accomplishment!

It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

Adam enjoys watching Mr. Rogers. The other day, while taking off his shoes, Adam began singing It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. It is now part of his daily routine. Whenever he takes off or puts on a coat or pair of shoes, he sings the song. Hearing him sing the song really does make it a beautiful day. It always makes us smile. :)

Valentine's Day

We started celebrating Valentine's Day last night when we enjoyed a dinner at one of our favorite restaurants: Mimi's Cafe.
(Photo compliments of Adam)

The fun continued this morning when we opened our Valentine's cards. Adam then enjoyed a bowl of oatmeal topped with red sprinkles. Lunch didn't go exactly as planned, but we did learn adding red food coloring to macaroni and cheese makes a great meal for Halloween (it turns dark orange rather than red). Thankfully, our dinner was more successful. We all enjoyed our heart-shaped ham and strawberries. And of course no Valentine's dinner is complete without strawberry milk.

Coloring

Over the past few weeks, Adam's coloring skills have changed. He now tries to stay in the lines when he colors. He is very proud of his artwork and uses our refrigerator to display many of his pictures.

Puzzles

When we got these 12-piece jigsaw puzzles for Adam, we thought it would be several months before he would be able to put them together. Once again, he has surprised us with his abilities. It has only been one month and he can already put them together without assistance.
