Frosty the Snowman

Paul received three free tickets to see Frosty the Snowman at a local Children's theater.

We were very excited since Adam LOVES listening to Frosty the Snowman and reading a book we have of the story.

When the play was over, Adam was a bit confused. He never heard them sing Frosty the Snowman and he never saw a snowman (the lady wearing puffy white clothing didn't much resemble Frosty).

We decided the best part was the theater itself (great architecture) and the fact the tickets were free. :)

Christmas Morning

The Christmas fun continued when Adam woke up to find the surprises left by Santa.

Presents

Adam, of course, loved opening his Christmas presents.
He especially had fun unwrapping the "huge" presents from his grandparents.

The Christmas Story

For the past four weeks, we have been teaching Adam the Christmas story. Besides knowing the names of everyone involved, he knows details such as Angel Gabriel telling Mary she was going to have a baby, baby Jesus being wrapped in swaddling clothes, and the wise men bringing gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. We are amazed by how much he remembers! Tonight's Family Home Evening was especially fun for Adam. He loved dressing up to reenact the first Christmas.

Shephards complete with lambs and shephard crooks.

A very happy wiseman atop a Daddy camel.

Counting the Days

Adam has LOVED counting down the days to Christmas (Thanks to Grandma for making our wonderful advent calendar). Since Paul had to work every day this past week, Adam had to wait a bit longer for Christmas to arrive. But at last, Christmas Eve has arrived and the star happily found its way to the top of the tree.

Our Little Photographer

Adam loves taking pictures with our camera. Paul has been teaching Adam how to choose an object to photograph and properly frame it with the camera. Adam took these pictures today without any help.

Our Little Artist

Adam tried his hand at painting today. He did a terrific job! He held the paintbrush like a pro and made a great picture. He is very proud of his "rainbow" and made sure to find a special place for it on the refrigerator.

Christmas Carols

Adam loves listening to our Christmas CDs. His favorite songs are Frosty the Snowman, Joy to the World, and Jingle Bells.

Christmas Cookies

Adam and Kim had fun making our traditional Christmas sugar cookies.
And just like last year, Adam's favorite job continues to be that of the "taste-tester".

Snow!

We've woken up to snow on the ground a couple times, but it has never amounted to much. Since then, Adam has been anxiously waiting for a chance to play in the snow. Today he got his wish and loved it!
Adam wanted to use the big shovel in the snow just like Daddy. Instead, we gave him a small garden shovel.
That shovel only appeased him for a short time. When it was his turn to use the "big huge" shovel, he was delighted. After his first scoop, he called out "Just like a scooper truck and dump truck!"

Despite the cold, Adam wanted to stay and play forever!

Special Delivery

Adam is always excited to get a package in the mail. He of course loves opening the presents and goodies, but he also delights in playing with the packing material. On this occassion, he discovered how much fun it is to scatter the pieces around the room by waving a blanket near them. He was even more surprised to learn that this method creates quite a bit of static electricity. He was baffled at how the pieces stuck to his clothes and hands. Kim was also baffled when it came time to clean up. We had to resort to picking up the pieces with a wet cloth since they wouldn't come off of our hands, no matter how hard we shook them.

Story Time

Adam loves to listen to stories as he falls asleep. His favorite story is one Daddy tells about Adam and Clifford playing at the park. After requesting the story multiple times, Adam has mastered the beginning of the story. "Once upon a time, there's a little boy named Adam. He lived down the street from a big huge red dog named Clifford." He used to retell the story with the same details that Daddy used, but now he has learned how to create his own story. It usually involves going to a park, but he chooses to have other friends come along and the activities change.

All Business

Kim went to check on Adam during his nap. At first glance he appeared to be sleeping peacefully. Then she noticed his hands. He seems to be dreaming more about a business meeting than the traditional cars and trucks.

Deck the Halls

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

And now that we have a banister, Kim had lots of fun decorating it.
