Colors

Adam is learning his colors. He is especially good at recognizing blue and yellow things. That is really appropriate since Kim's favorite color is yellow and Paul's favorite color is blue. You will notice in the video how much of a tease Adam can be. He always tries to "trick" us by putting the Legos in the wrong pile.

Happy Anniversary!

We celebrated our anniversary today! No, not our wedding anniversary (we were married in July). This was another special anniversary. Four years ago on February 29th we shared our first kiss! This year marks the first anniversary of that event. It’s kind of fun having a leap day anniversary. To celebrate we decided to share several kisses—some with plain milk chocolate and some with almonds, all compliments of Hershey.

Cheerios for Breakfast

Adam is getting really good at feeding himself. He is also learning more and more animal sounds. Today at breakfast he demonstrated both skills.

Highchair Car

Adam loves cars! And he considers anything with wheels to be a car. He recently decided his highchair is a car. He even used his toy keys to turn it on before he started driving. Watch out for that oven in the middle of the road!

The First McDonalds

Here's a little trivia for you:

1. Where was the very first McDonald's built?
Answer: Des Plaines, Illinois

2. According to Google how many minutes should it have taken us to get there for lunch?
Answer: 7 minutes

3. Where do Google's directions take you?
Answer: To a small brick home in a nice residential neighborhood on a dead end street.

4. How long did it really take us to get to the McDonalds?
Answer: 1 hour

5. Besides the first McDonald's, what else is Des Plaines known for?
Answer: Lots of diagonal streets each with two names depending which way you're driving

6. What does the McDonald's Museum have inside?
Answer: Good question. We learned that the museum is only open in the summer months. It is also surrounded by a tall iron fence. We were only able to see it from the parking lot across the street.

At least we got a picture! :)

Family Home Evening Success

Adam is enjoying Family Home Evening more and more. Of course, we play games with the lesson AND activity. Tonight was especially successful. We don't know how much Adam learned, but he had fun fishing and then being in charge of the "stop" and "go" lights. In fact, Adam loved it so much he continued playing the games long after FHE ended.

Valentine's Dinner

We had our traditional Valentine's dinner tonight with lots of hearts. This year's menu included "Scrambled Egg Super", hash browns, strawberries, strawberry milk, and for our more picky eater we also had cheese and toast. The surprise bakery treat this year - Krispy Kreme. Mmmmmm!

The Zoo

Yes, it may sound crazy, but we went to the zoo today. One of the nice things about the Milwaukee Zoo is that it has several indoor areas that you can visit in the Winter time. It's also nice to go in Winter because there aren't very many people around. Adam had a blast!
This is the first time Adam discovered the animals! :) Perhaps it was because there weren't very many people around to watch instead. Adam's favorite were the fish. He also loved the gorillas.

The only animals we stopped to see outside were the peacocks! This was right outside the reptile house. At one point we counted 20 peacocks!

In addition to watching the animals, Adam also enjoyed walking around the monkey house, especially since he was wearing his winter boots and could clomp all around.

Adam also discovered the zoo has much more than animals and people. It has buttons! Kim never knew how many buttons there are at the zoo. Adam showed her every one!

Just like Daddy

Adam loves to do things just like Daddy. He recently discovered the fun of putting on Daddy's winter gear.

Hot Chocolate

Upon returning home, Wisconsin decided to greet us with VERY cold weather. When Paul was outside shoveling, Kim and Adam decided to venture outside, too. Despite his red nose and cheeks, Adam did not want to return inside. To help redirect Adam's attention (so he would stop crying at the front door with his boots in hand) Kim made him some hot chocolate. The treat worked like a charm. Adam loved it!

The Closet

After returning home to Wisconsin, Adam had to rediscover our apartment. His latest discovery is the closet. He thinks it is so funny to walk in the closet, shut one door, and come out the other. What a character!
